Day 15: Victoria, BC – Errington, BC

A non alarm-clock day – woohoo!  Instead we woke up and went down for a morning swim in the pool. Afterwards we cleaned up and walked down to Fisherman’s Wharf to look for Sammy the Seal.

We were in luck! We had a visit with Sammy, grabbed some breakfast and went back to the hotel.  We stashed our bags with the clerk and walked to Beacon Hill Park where we met our tour guide, Joel.  What a great park! The petting farm was a huge hit, especially the goats (and no, we are not getting a goat! No matter how many times you ask.)

Then we walked back to Fisherman’s Wharf for the highly anticipated sushi!  Rain loooves sushi and I had promised him at least one meal of it before we went back home.

A quick 2.5 hour drive led us to Andrew and Leanne’s house: a perfect country retreat.

They were out for the afternoon but had left the door open for us. Once we made our way passed the guard dogs (thanks for being the sacrificial lamb, Moxie) we chilled out and enjoyed some quiet down time.

Andrew, Leanne and Carmanah came home and introduced Rain and Moxie to the chickens.  The collected eggs and then continued to play with the chickens for a minimum of 2 hours.  I don’t know exactly what went on in that chicken coop but there was apparently a bathing of chickens…. interesting… (and no, we are not getting chickens. No matter how many times you ask.)

Leanne showed the kids how to dig potatoes for dinner and we ate an amazing meal with big country appetites!

Tomorrow we are off to find some BIG trees…
